A lot of people are building homes in Vermont right now, and it’s completely understandable why. The scenery, alone, is gorgeous: the Green Mountains and Mount Mansfield are stunning to look at from the back of a beautifully designed deck. And it’s not just the scenery, of course, Stowe Mountain Resort offers its ski trails in Vermont’s beautiful winters, and cool refreshing lakes in the verdant summers.

Vermont lives in classic, historic New England homes. Victorian, Italianate, and Greek Revival homes are common. Charming cottages, farmhouses, and renovated barns blend into the flora and fauna of the state. Mountain estates and ski houses are, of course, popular at the higher altitudes. According to Insider, the most popular style of home in Vermont in 2017 is the Cape Cod. Visitors from outside New England, unfamiliar with Cape Cods, can recognize the style by their low, broad, single-story frames  combined with moderately steep pitched gabled roofs, large central chimneys, and minimal ornamentation.

Vermont contractors accommodate old and new homeowners alike, they want to build – or renovate – your dream home. This list features award-winning contractors with press recognition, glowing reviews, high-end design, and excellent customer ratings.

If you are thinking about doing a construction project, we recommend checking each builder’s license with the local licensing board, speaking to past clients, and using our bidding system to get competitive quotes from at least 3 contractors. Getting multiple bids is the best way to ensure you get a fair price and that bids include the complete scope of work.
