Alabama, the “Heart of Dixie,” is a gorgeous place to live, full of history, conflict, and some really great music. Homeowners – and prospective home builders – might be interested to know that it’s the only American state that possesses all the major natural resources required to manufacture iron and steel. When you make southern baking powder biscuits in a cast-iron skillet, you’re likely making them with iron made in Alabama. And construction workers across the country are regularly reaching for steel pipe that originated in Sweet Home Alabama.
Most Alabama builders make their home in Birmingham. Birmingham is the metropolitan core of Alabama, and its service-oriented economy is the center of a lot of commerce across the Deep South. In the great tradition of southern hospitality, Alabama builders have a reputation for their customer service. The national trade publications have yet to discover Birmingham, but the awards these 15 builders have won suggest that may soon change.
If you are thinking about doing a construction project, we recommend checking each builder’s license with the local licensing board, speaking to past clients, and using our bidding system to get competitive quotes from at least 3 contractors. Getting multiple bids is the best way to ensure you get a fair price and that bids include the complete scope of work.
